The Jarige Job Foundation

Unfortunately, thousands of children can’t celebrate their birthday because there is no budget for it at home. The Jarige Job Foundation helps these children by giving them a birthday box containing everything for celebrating their birthday, at home and at school. This box contains a cake, streamers, treats for school and of course a nice gift. To give a box to as many children as possible, MAMALOVES launched the Balloon Charm, available as a bracelet or necklace. The entire proceeds go directly to the Jarige Job Foundation.

In the Netherlands there are more than 300,000 children who live at or below the poverty line. Unimaginable, but also often invisible because there is a great taboo on financial distress. There is simply no room for these children to participate in activities such as sports with their peers or celebrating their birthday. Things that are normal to so many other children. That is why the Jarige Job Foundation helps the children who are most affected by the poverty situation at home.

The Jarige Job Foundation was established in 2010, on the occasion of the first birthday of the son of Huib Lloyd and Barbara Kathmann. Due to the overwhelming number of gifts that their son Maas received on his first birthday, Huib and Barbara decided to find out how poorer families actually do this. They could never have imagined that the situation in a rich country like the Netherlands was and is so dramatic. With their foundation they hope to help these families create an unforgettable birthday. Every year, more than 80,000 children now celebrate their birthday with the help of Jarige Job.
